BiographyVeneranda S. Dean, 89, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Fort Bayard Medical Center. She was born June 8, 1922 in Pecos, NM to Francisco and Agripina (Dimas) Sandoval. Veneranda was also known as Bennie by her friends. She loved crocheting, sewing, ceramics, gardening and loved watching birds. She also loved to travel; but her biggest passion was BINGO. She worked on the railroad in Santa Rita during WWII and years later worked at Fort Bayard as a nurse’s aide. Veneranda was a devout Catholic devoted to prayer and the rosary. Veneranda loved spending time with her family and friends and her sense of humor will be greatly missed. She is survived by three daughters, Josephine S. Prislan of Deming; Carol D. Telles and husband Henry of Las Cruces; Lillian S. Dean and companion Fernando of Las Cruces; five sons, Charlie S. Dean and wife Clara of Arenas Valley; Freddie S. Dean and wife Stella of Bayard; Ervin S. Dean and companion Zita of Thornton, CO; Leroy S. Dean and wife Nellie of Mesa, AZ; Patrick S. Dean and companion Lydia of Albuquerque; nineteen grandchildren, Michael, Veronica, Sabrina, Elizabeth, Victoria, Catherine, Maria Theresa, Valerie, Tammie, Jocelyn, Freddie Jr., James, Adam, Linda, Kevin, Daniel, Eric, Kristopher and Nicolas; twenty-six great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Margarito Sandoval and wife Premia of Grants; Silviano Sandoval and wife Dolores of Longmont, CO; one sister, Sofia Maes of Grants. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Manuel O. Dean; one brother, Frank Sandoval; one sister, Grace Sandoval; two great grandchildren, Alyssandra Guerrero and Angelica Gomez. Visitation will be Monday, April 9th from 5-7pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the prayer vigil to begin at 7pm with the holy rosary being recited by family member Premia Sandoval. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated Tuesday, April 10th at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Paulus Kao officiating. The interment will follow concluding the service at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael and Veronica Prislan, Valerie Medrano Lujan, Victoria Dean Medina, Catherine Dean, James Dean, Kristopher Barela and Kimberly Barragan Apodaca. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Dean, Henry Telles, Sabrina Prislan Gomez, Elizabeth Dean, Maria Theresa Dean Guerrero, Tammie Telles Jimenez, Jocelyn Telles, Freddie Dean Jr., Adam Dean, Linda Dean, Kevin Dean Chavez, Daniel Dean Padilla and Nicolas Dean.
