Life Legacy

Ramona Provencio Diaz, 95, a former resident of Hurley, NM now of Albuquerque, NM completed her journey here on earth and entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in Albuquerque. Ramona was born on January 9, 1916 to Emilia Garcia and Nestor Provencio in the Gila Valley. She was the youngest of her siblings and the only daughter. As she grew up, she worked hard alongside her family not only helping with household chores, but with farming tasks. At 18 she married Braulio Ogas Diaz a good family friend and best friend with her brother, Albino. A few years after their marriage they subsequently moved to Hurley where they made their home and raised their children. After the loss of her husband in ’83 she continued to live in her home for 25 years and did a great job. Health reasons necessitated a move to Albuquerque to be with family. She was well known for her creativity, sense of humor and for being resourceful. She was blessed with artistic ability, she enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, embroidery, arts and crafts, drawing and designing. Her gift of art served her well and enabled her to stay positive and busy when she became less mobile. Although Mrs. Diaz was a shy, reserved woman, she often displayed a sense of humor that would make others laugh and giggle when they least expected it and the laughter was good for everyone’s soul. She is survived by two daughters, Natalia Duran (Fred) and Erlinda Diaz; granddaughters, Pat Conklin (Chris), April Corona (Rogelio), Tricia Aragon (Bruce Bell), Jodi Hebert (Jeremy), Yvonne Hundley and Anna Gutierrez; nineteen great-grandchildren, Dani and Sami Conklin; Felisha, Anthony, Robert, Gena, Michael, Raymond, Rueben, Erica and Joseph Corona, Laurel and Hayley Aragon-Bell; Justin, Jayden and Jared Hebert; Gage, Coy and Brisa Hundley; wonderful nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Braulio Diaz, two sons, Braulio Jr. and Ralph; daughter, Tillie Gutierrez; her parents, her brothers, Albino, Brijido and Ignacio Provenio. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 2nd from 1:30- 2:30pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels. The funeral service will follow at 3pm at Apostolic Bethany Temple 402 Oak St. in Santa Clara with Andy Provencio officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane cemetery.
